The Role
Enjoyed the work and the team as well as the industry. Was challenging and fulfilling.
My work was always well received and put to good use, which indicated to me that I was valued and making a real contribution.
I didn't ask for help/support often as I prefer to learn things for myself. But when I did need input and guidance it was always there.
The nature of my work means I rarely had pressing deadlines, allowing me to complete my work at a nice and even pace.
My immediate role gave me the opportunity to complete several major projects, including being the main developers behind one of the team's annual forecasts. I took on volunteer roles internally with one of the company networks which gave me the opportunity to experience a light management role, which carries a good deal of responsibility as well.
Too early to tell at this stage, but I feel the skills I picked up will be put to good use as my IT, numeracy, and presentation skills all increased dramatically during my placement.
The Company
Could have been better, could have been worse.
An experienced company with an experienced HR department. They have been doing it for a while and set up all placements very well.
I did one training course over my entire placement. I feel at times I could have used more, but did well with self-teaching regardless.

Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
I don't feel that there is room for quick acceleration through the ranks for talented individuals. I think the company could do better to reward exceptional employees and I got the feeling many people in the office shared my sentiment.
The Culture
Few placements actually lived in the town where they worked, and those who did were often away during weekends. It meant that a social scene outside of work was almost non-existent. I think the company could also do more internally to see that the placements network with one another.
I found the cost of living to be extremely high where I was given the salary I was on.
Small town small nightlife.
Many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work. The company is very encouraging and very good with its social philanthropy, encouraging employees to take part in things such as the special olympics and volunteering projects in the local community.
