The Role
Overall a really good insight into the firm and its functions, with benefits regarding the summer internship
Very inclusive atmosphere, everyone got involved and got to meet senior partners on more level grounds
HR helped pretty much every step of the way, leaving us to our devices when completing group tasks but giving feedback as well
Each day was structured and planned, so everyone had sufficient work and off time in general.
Obviously it was a controlled environment so responsibility wasn't really an issue to consider, but you were expected to get up on time, meet deadlines and we were generally trusted to get on with the jobs together.
All the tasks were based around hypothetical companies in real situations facing PwC employees. I do economics, so on the business side I did get an idea about accounting methods and reading financials, as well as considering the economic impact of particular decisions, like capital depreciation on fixed machines.
The Company
Apart from the 8am psychometric test (bleurgh) there was always something to smile about
As I mentioned, each day was organised, as well as HR helping set up transport to and from the train station
The whole programme was based around us
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
National Travel
Got fast tracked to the final stage
The Culture
Everyone got on really well, especially through rotating around teams for each task so you got to know pretty much most people.
It was all paid for... plus a few drinks tokens!
We were advised not to go off the premises, and though a few people got a bit drunk at the bar a lot of people ended up bedding early due to the morning routine planned (and the aforementioned tests)
The gym? I suppose they also had the photobooth and a quiz, but since it was a short period there were not that many opportunities
