The Role
Loved the placement I learn a lot about retail management
All colleagues welcomed me and offered their help and advice whenever I needed it
I has support from multiple people including managers and partners. Help was always available and I was able to easily schedule in time with others for help with my placement and presentation at the end.
The store was busy so I was busy! I was able to manage my time so that I learnt what it was like working with the public and then doing other work off the floor.
I was able to manage my department very early on and felt comfortable doing so. I was also speaking at morning meetings with the other managers in store.
In the short time I spent with JLP I learnt a huge amount. The managerial skills I observed were invaluable. Witnessing different management styles and being able to learn what 'my style' was helped enormously.
The Company
The atmosphere was generally positive, working in a busy store is itself stressful but managers handled it really well ensuring that when time were tough it didn't effect morale.
The placement was seamless, from day one I knew my timetable, working rota and who my contacts were. I felt comfortable the store were prepared and ready for me, I was scheduled in to various meetings which gave me a great insight into the business.
JLP enabled me to learn and put into practice the skills I learnt. Development was self driven from my part and the store just helped me achieve what I needed.
Subsidised Canteen
Great I will definitely look to work for JLP in future.
The Culture
Yes I went on two social events.
I lived at home.
Not great.
No, I wasn't there for long, but I was not looking for opportunities in this case.
