The Role
The work it's self interesting, especially for someone with an interest in aviation. There are lots opportunities to see some impressive and interesting things.
Most people did not recognise me as a placement student. When making decisions and discussing important issues everyone was treated equally.
Very strong support system. A number of support systems were in place to ensure I felt comfortable.
As with most work places the amount of work at any one time was quite variable but generally there was a good balance.
Only gave a 7 because I think too much responsibility can actually be a bad thing. But overall the responsibility given to me reflected my ability.
The improvement of my soft skills was huge and they are skills which are very useful to me in all aspects of life. I was given technical training were required to perform my role.
The Company
Highly dependent on the department but overall good. There was a good community spirit with the other placement students and graduates.
Never had any major troubles and always given direction on what I should be doing.
The company has very good training department and we were able to make full use of this.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
The company sits in an expanding industry so I think they're willing to take on engineers that meet their requirements.
The Culture
I had fantastic time with my fellow placement students and the graduates.
Southampton and Portsmouth are both student cities and you can find cheap places to go if you look hard enough.
Big range of clubs and bars in Southampton. Something for everyone.
The sports and social club had few opportunities but generally I socialised with the other placement students and graduates.
