The Role
I had a really great time on the internship. The work was really interesting and I was made to feel like part of the team from the very beginning. It was much better than I was expecting it to be!
I felt incredibly valued by my colleagues, especially as I was seen to be a section manager by the end of the 6 weeks.
I was given really good guidance and had regular meetings to check my progress.
There was always things to do, but because I wasn't technically a section manager I was slightly limited in how much managerial tasks I could take part in, which meant that sometimes I just felt like a shop floor worker
I was given a fair amount of responsibility such as organising the chrismas rota. Again, I was slightly limited by the fact I was only there for 6 weeks and so couldn't take on all the responsibilities as an actual section manager.
I really feel as though my managerial skills have vastly improved
The Company
It was generally good, although sometimes the partners had a tendency to complain about even very small things!
Very well organised until the final interview, when there it wasn't clear what each stage of the process from then on (ie. final interview etc) meant.
I was very impressed with how integrated into the business I was on every level from partner to store manager.
They are a fantastic organisation
The Culture
It was very sociably within the organisation, I was touched by how friendly everyone was, even if they didn't know me that well. There wasn't a prominent social scene outside of work.
Subsidised canteen was fantastic, and they had discounted parking. However, I usually paid for the train instead as I commuted from home.
I don't really know, I didn't go out.
They have a very impressive amount of subsidised activities outside of work.
