The Role
The J.P. Morgan summer internship is a fantastic scheme. Although fast-paced, you learn a huge amount as an intern. J.P. Morgan also put on a variety of social events and networking sessions, as well as talks to expand your knowledge, giving a well-rounded rewarding experience.
I felt extremely valued by my colleagues. One thing that stood out to me at J.P. Morgan was that my opinions were valued from day one. My colleagues made me feel like part of the team, and took time to help me learn, as well as regularly including me in various tasks.
In my opinion, support and guidance depends on the department you are in. I had a large network of support in my department by managers of various levels of seniority. They are able to draw on their experiences to support you and enhance your learning. However, a lot of managers can be quite busy, so often, there may not be a large amount of time for support. However, developing the ability to speak to managers in short amounts of time definitely helped my time management!
I was very busy on a daily basis. I was given projects which could challenge me, and although I was very busy and they took a lot of time, they gave me a chance to develop both my professional and personal skills.
I was surprised by the amount of responsibility I was given as a summer intern. Knowing that I had responsibility and could have a say in matters really enforced to me the importance of accuracy! It felt good to have the amount of responsibility which I had, because it enabled me to have an input.
The skills I have learnt will really help me in my degree studies and beyond. I have learnt how to effectively manage my time and prioritise the work that is most important, whilst still getting the rest of my work done. I also have improved my communication skills, as I did a lot of networking during my summer internahip and spoke to various employees at J.P. Morgan, of various levels of seniority. This really helped me to communicate in an effective manner.
The Company
The general atmosphere in my office was good. It really depended on the projects being worked on, and due to the fast moving industry which J.P. Morgan is in, there were days when the atmosphere was fantastic, and other days when the atmosphere was less positive. Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed working in the office I was at.
The J.P. Morgan summer internship is organised brilliantly. There is a clear schedule of what will happen over the internship, and there is regular communication from Human Resources.
I feel that the company really invested in me. There were several opportunities to network with employees in J.P. Morgan. A lot of training was also provided and interns attended several talks to learn more about the various areas of J.P. Morgan.

There are excellent employment prospects within J.P Morgan.
The Culture
J.P Morgan arrange a number of social events to meet other summer interns. Because of this, interns were then able to socialise with each other and arrange their own events.
London is an extremely expensive city to live in, however, the experience of living in London and London as a city definitely make up for this!
There is so much choice of nightlife in London, it is fantastic!
Yes, J.P Morgan put on a variety of events for summer interns. Furthermore, J.P. Morgan has a large focus on Corporate and Social Responsibility, meaning there are opportunities for interns to get involved in charity and fundraising activities.
