The Role
Made to feel welcome and was involved from the start.
Was relied upon which made what I was doing feel worthwhile and valued. Everyone was always quick to thank me after I completed assigned work.
Support was always readily available, and I think that is what I remember most from my experience. Everyone was only an email away and always keen to help. Was given a personal buddy to go to when I need some help and I was never let down by his availability and willingness.
If i didnt have a job to finish, another one was never far away. Saying that, I was, the majority of the time, busy with jobs for clients. Everyone I worked with made every effort to keep me busy asnd to help me make the most out of my internship.
Responsibility grew as the weeks went on. I was often sent off to work individually with thew client, which was good for many reasons. It gave me responsibilities in-which I had to be confident, communicate well and produce work to a high standard. The more engaged I was in the work allowed me to receive more responsibilities and therefore gain more out the work I was doing.
Learn't a lot more accounting knowledge which I can take into my exams. More than that though, I learnt a lot about PwC and how they operate and their expectations which will benefit me greatly when I come to start a graduate role with them next September.
The Company
My office put on social events each week and even threw me a leaving party on my final week. I was pleasantly surprised by the good atmosphere around the office and everyone seemed to get on very well.
From the first day, the internship felt very professional. For the first week they took on the interns to a country park which allowed us to get to know each intern. The introduce week introduced me to the internal systems they used and from then on different jobs were assigned to me as soon as the previous one finished.
PwC invest alot in each intern. They sent me to work in Blackpool for a week and put me up in a hotel with plenty of money every night to spent on food. The country park and introduction week was another example of the investment they are willing to put in. Overall, it leads to a very satisfied group.
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
They offered me a graduate role for when i have finished uni and i took it without hesitation.
The Culture
We played football twice a week together and went out most weekends and even a couple of times during the week.
I did my placent in Newcastle which was fairly cheap but I have to pay for the accomodation up there which set me back a bit.
Newcastle has nightclubs all the over the place so going out was never a problem.
Being in a big city there were opportunites everywhere.
