The Role
There were a large number of placement students participating in the scheme which was great.
There were short periods where we were waiting for information from people, and other periods where were working hard so it balanced out.
I learnt a fair amount about statistics, which may be useful in the future. There was very little direct overlap between specific degree course content and day to day work. I feel I have learnt a lot about the company, which is more important to me than technical knowledge.
The Company
HR were very well organised.
There were a few training days set up by the company. I didn't go to any substations or electricity sites while I was there, which struck me as strange seeing as we were all electrical engineering students. On the whole it was acceptable.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Car
Subsidised/Company Gym
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
I really like the company, and would imagine they will feature as a contender for my graduate applications.
The Culture
There were a LOT of placement students, so the social scene was excellent. If there were less of us it may be a bit quieter.
Plenty of clubs and activities.
