The Role
The work was very enjoyable and interesting, with various different aspects.
Even though I was only an intern, I very much felt like my views were valued and that I had a role in the team.
The support was really good, but almost better than that, I was actually trusted to work on real cases, without too much supervision.
There were occasional moments where I did not have that much to do, but generally I was kept busy, and I stayed in till about 19:00.
For an intern, I feel I was given a lot of responsibility and helped on real ongoing cases that the firm was doing.
As an introduction to legal work, this more than any other internship I have done, felt like a true reflection of what it is like to work in a law firm.
The Company
Obviously it was very professional but it was also quite relaxed and friendly.
There was not very much organisation in this placement, but that was one of its strengths as it meant that I was able to get involved in real legal work.
The lawyers I was working with actually took alot of time out to explain concepts that I was unfamiliar with, and to discuss the work I was doing.
Very appealing, but I will have to see if they want me!
The Culture
There were no other placement students there at that time.
The local area had some pretty cheap restaurants but aside from the occasional lunch out, there was not much socialising going on. Both the lawyers I was working with had a lot of clients to meet, so their 'socialising' often went in that direction.
I do not really know...
Given that the branch in Singapore was only just set up there were not enough people for there to be any activities outside of work.
