The Role
I felt like the work I carried out was worthwhile and contributed to many deals. My managers always tried to find projects or one-to-one sessions with different members of the organisation to keep me busy.
My team were great and always willing to help. I spent days with many other colleagues in other business sectors who, again, always gave up their time to further my knowledge of activities in the company.
I had two line managers who supported me with technical knowledge and made sure I always understood my tasks. They were both very approachable which was good as I was never afraid to ask for help.
Most days I had lots of things to do. I often travelled across the country to visit clients and had ongoing projects to keep me busy most days. However, some days did drag slightly if I had completed tasks and there was no one around to ask for extra projects.
I couldn't help many of my direct team with their work due to the training I would of needed. However, I did start the work on several projects which ultimately led to multi-million pound deals for the Regional Directors.
Since being back at university I have already started studying certain topics which I learnt during my internship. It also helps me be able to think about the theory in a real life senario.
The Company
Everyone in the office was really friendly and up for a laugh. As with the work nature of the team I was in, sometimes there wasn't many people in the office.
I feel the overall internship was organised pretty well. However, many of the projects I worked on were not planned and I was just asked to do tasks as they arose.
There was mandatory online training for all new starters which helped me get a good idea of the company and industry. I feel that they invested a lot of hours in teaching me about their business too.
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
I enjoyed my time at Santander and they progressed me through to the final stage of the interview process. I feel more confident of doing well as I have developed my knowledge of the firm and already had to pass a similar assessment to gain a place on the internship.
The Culture
I was the only intern in my division. I found out there were other interns in other divisions and we met up occassionally depending on work times.
I lived close and commuted in every day but Manchester is not to expensive to work and live in but is still a lively city with lots to do.
Manchester is a really good night out with lots of bars and clubs to cater to different genres.
I got involved in 6-a-side football and a volunteering event.
