The Role
Was a really good introduction into the actuarial consulting world, along with what its like to work in an office etc.. Really insightful, definitely try and do it
Everyone spent time sitting down with me helping me go through things I couldn't understand However it was a bit like, you sit in the corner and just tap away Even if people were busy they would try and catch me a few days later in the week
Really good, I got given step by step instructions on everything to do, and he was happy to repeat things if I got stuck/forgot what I was meant to do next
Not that busy, your sort of in the way of the firm functioning properly, that they are happy with you having nothing to do if htey have a project to report ASAP as explaining and montioring work your doing is kind of a distraction to them
Just simple VBA tasks or research tasks
Just the insight into working in an office, the office vibe, how people interact with each other in the office will really help me hit the ground running when I start a proper graduate position
The Company
Very quite, the most of a conversation I ever heard was when two people went for the same last biscuit! Everyone more or less just sat away and typed at thier computers
Sort of more doing ad hoc work when it came in, or people would think up tasks for you to do
I was given quite a lot of traning and lots of presentations about people in different departments and the work they do, which obviously in terms of employee time would have cost the firm money
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Really good, got to learn so much about all the different departments and the type of work they do Meeting people in the office and learning the office dynamics is always going to help
The Culture
There were very few graduates about, and with actuarial exams everyone seemed to just focus on work and there wasn't much socalising going on to be honest
London , so it was really expensive. However most of my lunches were covered in team meetings. Its a case of you get what you pay for. A night out in London is twice as much as anywhere else, but its also twice as fun!
AMAZING!! IT WAS LONDON SO MUCH FUN, SO MANY CLUBS AND BARS -- AWESOME!!!
Not at all, just studying because of the 3 years of actuarial exams minimum Was the odd trip down the road for a pint though
