The Role
Enjoyed the project work the most as this was more varied and challenging. I found working at Volkswagen Group Ltd both interesting and enjoyable because of the industry, work culture and environment.
- Felt as if I was an important part of the team. - Trusted to take on key tasks and felt I was contributing towards important decision-making.
- Had regular catch ups with my supervisor. - People inside and outside of the department were supportive and available to offer guidance.
- Was busy throughout the year, had pretty much no down time in the role. - Occassionally too much to do when problems occur during month end - Not bored once whilst working there, there was always something to do.
- A lot of responsibility was given to me, much more than I had thought I would have before I started the placement.
- Learnt a significant amount from my placement year. - Double entry book keeping, excel and SAP proficiency, accounting principles and methods, presentation skills, analytical skills are just some of the skills that will be useful in my degree and beyond - Went on excel and financial data interpretation training courses. Both were useful and informative.
The Company
- Good atmosphere and friendly banter in the office.
- Familarisation day was a great way to meet everyone before the placement started - Felt that communication between the company and myself before I started was excellent.
- Attended a number of training courses

Unfortunately, they do not do a finance graduate scheme! But would definitely consider returning to them in the future.
The Culture
Good social scene. Numerous meals and nights out with my colleagues.
- Not cheap but not expensive either.
- It was okay. Not on par with bigger, more established cities. Going out was very average but there were a number of good places to go out for a meal.
- Sports and social club - Monthly pub lunches
