The Role
ARM is a great place to work. It's technology leader and everyone working there is smart and talented
I've always been treated as an employee like anyone else. I had the opportunity to make decisions about my project and discuss about everything
I always received help when asked. My project was somewhat collateral to the group main goals, I had the opportunity to experiment and try new things, and this is defintely a great thing...
Sometimes it ended up being a little bit boring, non having pressure for results or specific achievement
I've been working alone most of the time, only me and my manager were involved in the project directly
All I've learn is very close to what I've being doing in the last two years in university, and will help me a lot in the prosecution of my career
The Company
People is quite silent while working, not so many distractions... I was in a very small team in the same office with people from other groups, so there was not so many occasion for chatting... Anyway, everyone has always been very nice to me, but probably it takes more than 3 months to have a better familiarity with everyone...
Recruiting process was quite fast, it took 3 weeks... All the administrative things did not take that long
There are possibility for training session, for students as well as employee.. Induction was a bit superficial, but in general you can find interesting things
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
The Culture
I knew some initiatives where set up, but basically I never met them
Cambridge is a small, expensive and boring place. 3.5 Pound for a beer, 5 pounds for entering small events, 15 pounds for big events is not THAT bad, but housing is very expensive, quite as expensive as London. There are some interesting place anyway, but you should go and search for them around the town
Again, Cambridge is a small, expensive and boring place. I'm not a really nightlifer, at all, but sometimes you wonder how it is possible with all this students around the town having a so boring atmosphere..
There are some interesting groups organized on several platform around Cambridge you can eventually join..
