The Role
Given an important and interesting project to work on during the placement and received good support and contacts for the future
My immediate supervisor, line manager and manager were all very impressed with my work and keen to keep me involved, but others who did not understand the role of an intern seemed to think of me more as a work experience role
Excellent support and feedback at all times
Sometimes I had a lot of work, and I did his quickly and efficiently, sometimes too much so to the point that I ran out of work for the rest of the week. This may be because I worked too hard to start with, but because this was a project that required certain information from others before I could continue with it, I was at times left waiting for replies for long periods of time
The project I was given was a high risk, low chance of occurrence project that I thoroughly enjoyed and needed to be done for the company by law
I applied many skills in my time and the advice I received from my superiors has come in use many times since
The Company
Some people did seem to not be overly interested in the job but for the most part everyone was very keen and enjoyed working for the company
An excellent set up for all interns, the only issue for me was that I arrived early and therefore the team wasn't quite ready to receive me in terms of a laptop etc
They invested extensively in my training and development teams whole I was there, before I arrived and after I left with quality feedback on ending my placement
Flexi Time

Subsidised/Company Gym
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Fast tracked though the grad scheme application and got the job after an assessment centre
The Culture
There weren't many of us there, but we were encouraged to organise trips and socials if we cared to
I am lucky enough to be placed in the same area as where I go to university, so I stayed in my uni house over my placement at £200 a month and cost of social activities is pretty average. Not a very cheap university town in Leamington Spa, but still not expensive
I personally didn't go out too much because I go to university here so know the clubs well and didn't need to try them out. But the clubs are good and the nights out are reasonably priced.
There were opportunities, but a lot of the were in sports clubs that train and/or compete regularly outside of my placement duration, so I didn't get involved as there was no point in my mind of setting up an intern team. But for longer placements or permanent Jobs there are vast social activities available
