The Role
Very friendly people, the work itself was interesting with many opportunities to attend meetings/briefings if you were proactive in asking.
Lots of work given to me, and as the internship progressed I was given more important and challenging work
Support was always on hand, and people were always willing to answer questions (no matter how stupid they sounded!)
I had enough work to keep me busy, however I know a few people who were left bored for parts of the day. You have to look ahead and ask in advance if you want work - that way you get the most interesting jobs.
Responsibility was given to me more towards the end of the internship than at the start, but that's only to be expected!
Working with different people, trying to understand complicated issues and organising your time have all come in very handy in my final year so far, and I'm sure they will continue to prove useful in the coming years!
The Company
Depends what time of day and how busy people were. Towards the start of the day/end of the day there was a really nice atmosphere (friendly, talkative). At the more busy times it was more work focused-but that's exactly what you'd expect!
The people I worked with were faultless, but the overall organisation of the internship seemed to be lacking at some stages.
Can't really fault the investment in me. People were always willing to explain new concepts to me, run through calculations or help me figure out the IT systems
Subsidised Canteen
The Culture
Amongst other interns there was a good social life, amongst my team itself, it seemed to be lacking.
It's London prices, but that's life.
Good nightlife, especially if you're willing to use the Tube and travel around to find the best places.
Work was the main focus, there were a few social activities set up, but aside from that there weren't that many 'outside of work' opportunities
