The Role
The work was stimulating, the people were friendly and helpful and I learnt a huge amount on the scheme.
The majority of the work I produced was used by my colleagues, and my opinion was invariably asked about all legal situations I witnessed.
It was sometimes difficult to get in touch with people for guidance at the point that I needed it, but this is expected in such a busy environment.
I always had plenty to do. Sometimes the work took longer than I expected purely because of the standard I was aiming to achieve. However this is not something that can particularly be controlled by the firm itself.
I was given plenty of responsibility for my own work and managing my workload.
It was a steep but very useful learning curve. The work was challenging in all the right ways.
The Company
Although the workload was heavy, everyone seemed very positive and friendly. There was plenty of communication between employees about life outside of work as well as working issues.
The acivities were varied and well organised, and there was always plenty to do. At no point did I feel that I was wasting my time.
I was given extensive training in how to use the electronic filing systems. However, given the continuing assessments that were taking place there was not a lot of opportunity for further training. This was not a fault of the firm's.
Company Parties/Events
I would welcome the opportunity to work with the firm in the future.
The Culture
The fellow placement students were keen to socialise, and we had plenty of time to get to know oneanother. There also appeared to be good social relationships between the employees of the firm, which were extended to us whilst we were working there.
You can live in some very nice areas of Bristol for a reasonable price. In general, the cost of living in Bristol will always be much less than living in London. This also applies to socialising.
the surrounding area of the office is very much geered towards young professionals. The nightlife reflects the slightly up-market but laid back approach that many employees take towards their socialising. There are plenty of restaurants and bars in Bristol within walking distance of the office.
There are plenty of sporting activities to become involved with.
