The Role
You get stuck straight in at Asda, working on important projects from day 1
The work I do each day is highly important to members in my direct team and across the business
I had weekly meetings with my manager, and training from other members of the team
At the start of the placement I helped the team to be up to date on requests coming from the wider business. Depending on when new data and surveys were completed the work load fluctuated accordingly.
I was responsible for making sure that data we used was accurate and up to date
Great specialised knowledge of certain areas of the business
The Company
At times the environment seemed stressed, however effort was always made with social activities to improve this
I was on the first placement that my department did, and because of this a clear structure was not implemented. However it did give the opportunity to shape what I wanted to get from it. I felt more like a colleague than a person on a placement.
On my second week I was put on bespoke training to learn the software my department uses. I have been on regular training courses for many computer softwares.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Financial Bonus
I would hope that by the end of the placement an opportunity would become available for full time employment/
The Culture
I have had little contact with other placement colleagues since the introductory days. It would have been good if there was an opportunity for meeting with others (as I was the only placement within my department)
I have struggled with supporting myself through the placement on the wage that I was on.
Leeds is a great place for a night out, whether its music, theatre, bars or clubs there is something for every interest
There is an email that goes out weekly explaining what social events are on. I joined a choir. However you actively have to search for it to get involved.
