The Role
I enjoyed working in an environment where I was introduced to a variety of different roles and responsabilities. I wouldn't choose this as a future career but I definately developed my skill set that I can use in my degree course and another job role.
My colleagues were always appreciative of my work and encouraged me to share new ideas on how to improve their processes.
Whenever I had questions about certain procedures or tools there was always someone their to help me out. Both my manager and supervisor made sure we met to discuss any issues or concerns on a regular basis, especially during the start of my placment.
WIthin the first few weeks of my placement I had taken on all of my responsabilities which took some time to get used to managing my time properly. I alot of my activities such as dealing with PC Supply issues and audits did take up a lot of my time but once I had gotten used to my role I was able to balance my work load.
I did feel I was treated like a regualar Intel employee and therefore the responsability I was given could impact some of our department's objectives such as maintaining the security of our assets. If something went wrong I could always rely on my supervisor to help me out so I didn't feel too pressured.
The confidence gained in working in an office environment has improved considerably since I started and there have been a lot of training courses such as presentation skills or effective meetings that I can now use in the future. Working as a team and my time management has developed over the past year which have been invaluable to me.
The Company
The office environment was pretty relaxed but we still felt motivated to carry out our job roles effectively. It was always a very open atmosephere and my colleagues were friendly and easy to talk to.
The handover period went successfully and felt I had plenty of time to ask questions about my role to the student I was taking over.
The company provides you with a whole range of different courses that I could apply for and my manager was always interested in my development.

I have applied to get into the graduate progam and resubmitted my CV for review but due to the current economic climate I'm not sure if I will get a chance to work their in the near future.
The Culture
There was a student committee who organised nights out and trips to places like Ireland and the Alps so I definatley felt part of the student community.
In the middle of town the rent is quite high but there are plenty of supermarkets and a small shopping center which are all reasonably priced.
There are't very many clubs in this town so the nightlife isn't very spectacular. There are a lot of restaurants and takeaways to choose from.
There were a lot of organised events to various parts of the country and a variety of different sports and social clubs.
