The Role
It has been very good. The company have been really good to work for and want to get students doing real jobs that feel important.
I felt that people were willing to ask me about things and took my input into consideration.
I was well directed in the path I had to follow and was always able to ask questions and advice.
There is always variation in the amount that was needed to be done day to day, but I always felt like I had something to do.
I was given the responsability to run tests correctly and analyse results with the trust that I was doing things correctly. From a financial perspective, the cost of things I work with show that there is plenty for me to be responsible for.
I think it has been very good to learn how to work within a large company because it has helped with an understanding of how engineering works in the real world. It has also been good to get some hands on experience which is always useful and a good work ethic.
The Company
It is a very relaxed atmosphere where it is very easy to go up to someone and talk. It is very easy to just take a minute and have a joke about something without really disrupting.
Things are generally very well organised but of course there can always be issues with organising in such a big company and it is generally fine.
Training has been more on the job training as for this kind of work it is probably the best way.
Subsidised Canteen
Healthcare from home
They have said that if I wanted to come back that I would be more than likely to be accepted.
The Culture
Like anything, when you get to know people to start to be more social and the relaxed working atmosphere helps this.
I already lived in the area so it is difficult for me to judge.
There is some nightlife but it is very studenty and can vary a lot.
I do some singing, some drama and play badminton. There is plenty of different things to do around.
