The Role
The best internship I have had thus far. The company made me feel very comfortable and a valuable part of their firm instantly. I have networked and made very good friends with the other interns, whom I still keep in touch with.
Very much so. Everyday I would meet new people who would be excited to have me there, take me for a coffee, lunch or a short meeting to discuss what they do and explain how the bank and division works in detail. This was the case even with the more senior employees. I appreciated this greatly.
Much support was given. They were always there if I needed some help or guidance, and always were ready to answer any of my questions; even if they did seem a little silly. I was often approached by them rather than the other way round, thus showing their commitment to young employee development.
I had two rotations. On the first one, I was less busy where more time was spent getting to understand how everything fits into the bank. On the second rotation however, I was extremely busy where I was given a lot of responsibility which I liked. The days went by very quick; this summer was the fast of my life.
A lot of responsibility. As an intern, real employee and as a student learning. A lot of events, networking opportunities, learning bites were provided to us. As well as this, on the desk, various different tasks were given to me daily, where some were often more challenging than others. I found the whole experience exciting.
Definitely skills for life. I have learned how to time manage better, plan, and communicate effectively when challenges arise. Since my internship, I have been using these skills and more everyday without even realising it. I look forward to honing in on these skills once I return for the graduate program.
The Company
The floor was open plan, so it was really buzzing. As soon as you walk in for the first time, you can see a difference than from other banks. There was a real collaborative environment and everyone worked hard yet got along very well too. At the end, so many people came out for my leaving due too, which was a nice surprise.
Very well organised. From day 1 we were given a timetable of the events that would occur each day. Additionally, we recieved weekly emails from our recruiter to remind us of these events, and/or new ones. Once I had arrived to my desks, there was work set out for me and meetings already set up for the first few days to get me started. I appreciated this as it had allowed me to settle in quicker and better with the different teams.
As an intern only being there for 9 weeks, i was surprised at the amount of time and effort spent on developing our personal skills. For example, during a presenting skills session, after they had evaluated our performance, they gave us individual training upon the aspects we needed to build upon. This personally tailored training was extremely beneficial.

Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Healthcare from home
Very much so. I received a graduate offer which I accepted.
The Culture
Yes, it was nearly perfect. All of the other interns were great and very social. We all got on well together and still keep in touch.
I live in London so I commuted from home. However Deutsche Bank is in Central London, so I imagine living alone in London being a bit more expensive.
It was great. Our team went out mostly 2 nights a week and it was nice to meet and talk to people on a more social level.
Yes, the company gym often had evening classes, whilst the bank was a big supporter of community work so that was encouraged a lot. We had taken part in a community day where we voluntarily revived the old velodrome which was a fun day out, but also a valuable contribution to society.
