The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my internship at Deutsche Bank this summer. Not only was it an experience where the learning curve is essentially vertical but also, the people where incredibly helpful and all the interns got a long really well!
Not only did I feel valued by my colleagues but I have never worked in such an environment with extremely bright and motivated people. I learnt as much from my colleagues as I did from the day-to-day demands of the job.
I was given a huge amount of support by both my managers and other colleagues in my team. Whenever I was unsure of what I should be doing or needed help on how to do something was given as much help as needed, whenever it was needed.
I was always given work to do, sometimes I was even working on 2 or more projects at once. This great amount of responsibility and work was challenging and exciting and allowed me to really broaden my understanding of the finance division in Deutsche Bank. I worked on projects from the monthly newsletter for the area I was in to working on important statements on excel.
I had a great deal of responsibility straight from the start. 2-3 people essentially run a project form start to finish. Wish that very few people hanging that much responsibility, I was in a position where I was given as much responsibility ass I demonstrated I can handle.
Throughout our internsip, we were given mid-term and final reviews on our skills and competencies. We were told where we were doing well and also where to improve and how we could improve. At the start of our internship we were given a weeks training which was very beneficial in order for us to hit the ground running once we started at our desk. A lot of what I learnt in this week has been useful in my degree as I am studying Finance, Accounting and Management. This has been very useful indeed!
The Company
Extremely friendly atmosphere, everyone was willing to help and my colleagues were extremely bright and motivated individuals.
The overall internship was set up very well. With training at the beginning along with networking event and drinks to socialise with other interns. We had presentation every other week to learn more about the financial industry and also got to meet Anshu Jain, the CEO of Deutsche Bank and ask him questions.
We had a three day training at the start of the internship. This was enough for the internship - for the graduate we have a four week training.

I have indeed secured a job at Deutsche Bank! Definitely taken up the offer and will be working for them from 2013!
The Culture
The interns got a long extremely well. Even outside of events organised by the HR recruitment team, we organized nights out and dinners amongst ourselves! I made some really good friends and we all still keep in touch whilst in different cities. Excited to be reunited with them next year!
I didn't live out.
The nightlife was great, we had many bars to choose from around the office. We usually went to a different bar every week!
There were many opportunities from charity events to tennis matches organized by various individuals within the company!
