The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my six weeks on the summer internship programme. I learnt a great deal and had fun while I did this.
From day one, I was valued by my colleagues and treated with great respect. The team I was in was very small and personal which I particularly enjoyed. I was included in the team in both professional and social situations.
I found the guidance and support given to me by my people manager was brilliant. I had a meeting with her on my first day to help me think about my objectives for the internship and what I wanted to get out it. She gave me good ideas of what I wanted to achieve. Along with my other managers, she gave me guidance and was willing to help whenever I asked.
Overall I found the workload manageable. Some days I would have more work to do than others but that was inevitable. On days I was particularly busy, I learnt valuable time management skills!
I felt I was given the correct level of responsibility. I was not 'thrown in at the deep end' on day one but was given more responsibility as my confidence and experience grew.
Got offered a job for after graduation! Even if I had not accepted the job offer the internship allowed me to greatly develop my employability skills in a work experience background, which I could no doubt apply to any job in the future.
The Company
There was a very friendly atmosphere in the office. As it was a smaller office, it was nice that everyone knew each other and I felt comfortable going to talk to anyone.
The internship was very well organised. The three days spent at Latimer House were very well organised as were the general development days throughout the internship.
PwC invest a huge amount of time, effort and money into their interns. They invest in technical development as well as personal development.
Company Parties/Events
I was offered a full-time graduate position with the firm.
The Culture
There was a good social scene between the Interns at Latimer as well as a couple of social events organised by colleagues during my six weeks there.
Lived at home so thankfully no great cost of living.
Nightlife is good in Milton Keynes.
There were both social activities and work related activities (outside of work hours) including networking events.
