The Role
Sometimes the work was challenging but a lot of it was just doing spreadsheets on the computer which was pretty boring
Everyone was really friendly
Most of the time I was left to work by myself but if I had problems I could always ask my manager or anyone else in the department
Definitely did not have enough work to do! Most of my projects I got finished really quickly and a lot of the time I was waiting around for people to get back to me on things
All my projects were actually going to be used so it felt like I was doing something worthwhile
I developed a lot of skills in using different computer programs but the main thing I developed was probably people/networking skills which is really important at Unilever But also the placement had nothing to do with my degree so probably won't help me there
The Company
People tended to just work by themselves but you could always talk to someone if you needed to
It look a really long time to get contracts and paperwork sorted but on the actual placement I knew exactly what I was supposed to be doing from the first day
Unilever are really good at helping you develop professional/personal skills and help you figure out what sort of career you want to go into
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
It is a good organisation if you want to work in FMCG - but not for me
The Culture
I was the only placement student in my location so there wasn't much opportunity
Living costs were very reasonable but I lived far from work, although transport costs to work weren't too high either
Can't comment on this as it is not something I was interested in
I didn't really look into this that much - but there were many things going on in the city especially because I was there for the summer
