The Role
Challenging but great experience!
Everyone was very friendly.
I had a personal buddy, my manager whom I had regular meetings with and a mentor.
Quite busy, as the department is pivotal to the bank and particularly given ther regulatory environment.
I took upon myself to run the stresses that the department does daily and the result of which is passed to management, and by second week I was doing it by myself, with supervision by senior staff. I never imagined that as an intern I would be allowed to do a task that is so important to the department.
I learned a lot of things, but mostly that there is no limit to how much one can learn, as long as he or she is willing to do it. The Bank certainly provides the challenges and the resources.
The Company
Balanced, with occasional chatter (Olympics), etc.
Loads of presentations from other departments and firm-wide, including equality and diversity presentations.
We had one week of training at the beginning and seminars on what other Risk departments do, as well as online resources to help us with technical training and job-related knowledge.
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Healthcare from home
Everyonei is supportive of view as long as you are sociable and not arrogant and you do your job well (work hard).
The Culture
We had a few social evenings with the other interns, an event at the beginning and one at the end. Could have been more.
In St Paul's there's something for everyone.
Didn't care about nightlife in St Paul's.
The Bank has many different networks and clubs one could get involved in.
