The Role
The internship provided an invaluable inexperience with 'real' hands on work together with your own project to manage over the course of the 10 weeks. Lots of social activities to get involved with as well
I found that the atmosphere within my team was excellent and felt as if my contributions and opinions were valued and taken on board by all of my colleagues
Fantastic support from both management, colleagues and HR with regular catch ups and progress meetings throughout the internship to ensure I was receiving the best possible experience
I was given responsibility from day 1 and never found myself with nothing to do
Treated like a full-time employee with the same responsibilities and also trusted with leading tasks and projects
Gave an opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge gained in practical situations. Also improved presenting and other key skills required in any job
The Company
The atmosphere was generally quite relaxed, though when work needed to be done it was done
Very well organised from start to end. Internship goals/aims given before you start with a plan of what is to be expected over the 10 weeks.
There is a big emphasis on training and development at Amex, though as I was only there for 10 weeks, options were slightly limited
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Working from home
I have been offered to start a graduate role after finishing university next year
The Culture
Regular events were organised aimed at getting students and colleagues to socialise together and we often met up for lunch/after work as well.
As can be expected, cost of living in London is quite high, however I was staying with family so this wasn't a problem for me.
Nightlife around Victoria was generally at the higher end so we generally went into the City
Lots of schemes and initiatives to get involved with, i.e fitness groups etc.
