The Role
Really useful Health & Safety experience, and the main project I was assigned took a lot of organisation and planning which was great experience.
I felt I was appreciated for the value I added in such a short period of time (8 weeks), considering it was such a busy environment to join
Was often left to use my own initaitive working on my own projects that I had been assigned, but whenever I needed assistance help was always at hand and guidance as required
Had more than enough work on a daily basis to keep me occupied - also lots of variety.
My main project involved a reasonably sized budget to produce a health & safety marketing campaign, and I was given pretty much a free-reign on how I wanted it to run etc
Excellent core skills experience - i.e. communication skills, organisation, project management, taking responsibility. Engineering experience - various site visits gave me some good mechanical engineering experience, in terms of utility replacement work
The Company
Good friendly atmosphere with the team I was sat with.
The placement itself could have been organised better, such as having an itinerary for my first week to go round all the different departments to get a full appreciation of all the different teams. However through asking lots of questions I found this out over the period of the placement anyway, but in hindsight a week at the start doing this could have been useful
Was sent on a three day training course at the start of my placement - useful for working within the industry.
Company Car
Very appealing!! Will definitely be applying for their graduate development scheme
The Culture
Not really applicable as there were no other placement students there.
Travelled from home to work therefore minimal costs
