The Role
I was doing interesting and varied work.
The jobs given to me had a large amount of responsibility attached to them, which made me feel valued.
I had support and guidance when it was needed, but equally they seemed to trust me to carry out on my own once I had learnt about it.
There was a large amount of work and most days I didn't look at the clock before lunchtime.
I had a mandate to be able to transact IR and FX swaps, sell CP, TDs and CDs on behalf of Nationwide. I had comparable responsibilities to other people on the desks.
Helped greatly with management modules, and further work in the financial industries.
The Company
A lot of concentrated work, but plenty of banter and genuine respect between the employees and different desks.
There were people who specifically looked out for my interests while I was on the placement, I was given some choice in where I worked in the Treasury.
No professional qualifications, but a lot of internal and external courses.
Subsidised Canteen
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
I have a good idea of where I would like to work were I to come back.
The Culture
There is a graduate program that also runs, and I could socialise with the people on that.
Northampton's quite cheap.
Not a great variety of nightlife in the area.
Plenty of sports teams, social events etc.
