The Role
The work involved some mathematics which I really valued.
The colleagues took a lot of time out to help me where I was stuck. It was good to see they cared about their intern.
For complex problems I felt I could approach anyone for help no matter how stupid the question may have felt to me!
It was a good balance for a job in London.
The internship was more a learning experience for me since the work was very technical and I didn't have a financial background.
The ability to approach a problem from scratch and find your way to a solution to something you have never seen before is a valuable skill I have gained!
The Company
The work was intense but everyone also had a lof of fun on the desk.
The organisation was very good and we always knew what to do!
The entire internship was spent in me learning about trading and the products that our desk traded. The senior traders also took a lot of time out to help me in this understanding.
The organisation (at least the desk I worked on) was very friendly and seemed like one that cares for its employees a lot.
The Culture
We would go for drinks regularly with the colleagues on the desk as well as other students interning.
The cost was quite high as it is expected to be in London but the internship paid well for that too.
Getting the tube anywhere meant you could enjoy the entire city of London
Working hours were long but I had evenings free everyday when I would go for dinner with friends and had weekends completely free too!
