The Role
I really enjoyed my time at American Express. There was a great atmosphere, which you wouldn't always expect in a such a global corporation. I would recommend it to any undergraduate who is keen to work for a company that really does care about their employees.
I felt my team really appreciated the work I did for them. On many occasions members of my team would praise me for my work.
My team were always willing to offer a hand even if they were really busy. I really appreciated this because I always knew I could go to one of them if I had a problem.
I had the perfect balance at American Express. They pushed me to achieve results on my project but never was I given an overload of work.
My project was such that I was pretty much in control of what I did and when I did. My team trusted that I would get my work done and more than happy to leave me to it.
Working at American Express has without a doubt given me a valuable insight into working for a global firm. My excel skills have dramatically improved. It has really helped develop my communication and presentation skills.
The Company
I got on well with my team and there was a great atmosphere amongst us.
The internship was very well organised by HR. They arranged numerous events for the interns such as meetings with senior members at AMerican Express.
On our first day we had an excel training course, which was very useful and a lot of what was learnt was used over the internship.
Company Parties/Events
American Express is a company which would always rather promote from within. Interns have a good chance of getting a graduate role if they do well and impress.
The Culture
There was a great social scene with the other interns. This was mainly done to the various events arranged by HR, such as intern drinks, going to the London eye, a treasure hunt, etc.
It was relatively cheap
It had a great night life!
There was always something to do outside of work, for example one week we all went Clay Pigeon shooting.
