    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Great environment to work in. Good exposure to different areas of Consulting. Correct length for a summer vacation scheme.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Made to feel part of the team in and out of office hours. Given responsibility during the day such as holding meetings or compiling documents and taken on networking and social events throughout.

  • Any questions or guidence I needed was answered immediately either by my people manager or 'buddy'.

  • Work load was quite variable depending on deadlines and nature of the project I was on.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Not given anything deliverable that I could be held to account over but still enough to feel valued and that I wasn't wasting my time.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Many of the concepts and situations I was exposed to are appliable to my studies - especially the a Project Management module that I am currently undertaking.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Lots of out of hour social activities on offer such as rugby/football and casual drinks.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Initial organisation was poor due to the nature of the Consulting business but once I was on a project I had concrete work throughout. Generic tasks such as feedback and PwC group project for interns were all organised efficiently.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Investment came through exposure to the business and speaking to senior team emembers with vast experience. Lots of on line resources so you could develop academically if you were self motivated but T&D fitted very much with the firms view of 70:20:10.

  • Joining in March 2014 after 6 months travelling.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Not so much in the regional office as I was the only intern in Consulting but on away jobs lots of sociallising.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Cheaper than London.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Leeds has good night life and good bars/resteraunts.

  • Most activites organised on the online portal or through email.
