The Role
It was the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. Not easy working to strict targets and deadlines with constant pressure, long days in the office as well (8.30am - 6.00 pm).
Didn't feel that I got much recognition on a daily basis even though I was constantly giving 110%, think that's just how it is in the recruitment world, rather than necessarily just at Hays.
Good training schemes and managers are willing to help in the office on a one-to-one basis
Far too busy everyday. Even once I was experienced at managing my workload, there was still never enough hours in the day...have been known to still be in the office at 7pm on a Friday!
I was entirely responsible for my own clients and candidates. It was my responsibility to win the business in order to make money.
Although there were some downsides, it is undoubtedly the best choice I could have made. It has certainly opened my eyes to the working world
The Company
Generally a good atmosphere, always a lot of competitions etc to get people motivated. Always felt encouraged by colleagues. Lots of nights out!!
It was organised very well by Hays. Disappointed with the lack of support from the university, never had any correspondence and was only visited from the placement office on my second to last day (once I had made them aware no one had been to see me).
I was given as much training as possible due to the fact I was only there for a year. Never felt left out in comparison to my colleagues
There are a lot of opportunities to progress and work internationally
The Culture
I was the only placement student in my office
