The Role
I gained so much from the experience and met lots of other candidates of such high calibre, we still stay in contact because spending such a lot of time together makes making friends very easy! We were sad to go.
We all got along so well, the PwC staff were so friendly too, they gave us such an insight into their day-to-day work and gave an impression of what it would be like to work at PwC
When doing the group exercise, we got the opportunity to work with the team and have a practice at it before beginning which was very worthwhile and gave us so much help for the real thing!
We were very busy all day long, from 8.30am till around 12am with a quick break before dinner for a shower around 6pm and then met up again to chat to partners and staff until the early hours! But it was SO worth it, don't let that put you off in the slightest, it just makes it more worthwhile since so much is packed into such a short space of time.
Our work was focussed around a fictitious company but it was a perfect example of the kind of client that PwC deals with daily so the fact that it was not real did not make a difference!
I honestly learnt a lot about myself, mainly about how I work in a team and what kind of role I have in a team; this is because we spent so much time working in teams, which replicates the kind of daily work a member of PwC staff does everyday.
The Company
Everyone was very energetic when it came to the tasks because we all knew that we had a short space of time to show PwC our skills, which only added to the experience since there was never a time that I got bored. Everyone was so happy to be there and we all enjoyed it thoroughly.
Perfectly scheduled so that we never at a loss as to what to do. We were given a schedule on day 1 so that nothing was unexpected.
They provided everything for us, and helped us to develop skills by continually practising groupwork and asking to prepare and present a presentation (unassessed) in front of partners and staff.

Brilliant! Apparently 60-70% (ish) got a summer internship with them as a result of the academy, which means that while all my second year peers are all applying for internships this year, I already know that I am guaranteed a place with PwC and can focus on getting the grades to progress with them!
The Culture
We were given free drink vouchers each night and stayed up until the early hours chatting and socialising with partners and peers.
Absolutely everything was paid for us!
Free drinks vouchers and a photobooth that we definitely took advantage of! Lots of pictures to remember the experience and people by!
There was a spa and gym but the tight schedule meant that there was little time to use these facilities; but you're there to learn about the firm and yourself, not to waste the time there by pampering yourself to be honest! So this was not a problem.
