The Role
I really enjoyed my placement. I was involved in ongoing transactions in the team and given varied work as a part of this. This gave me a real insight into the type of work conducted by the team and made me feel as though I was of assistance to the team during my placement. I was made to feel a part of the team throughout my placement which made the experience even more enjoyable.
From day one I was made to feel a part of the team. I was taken for lunch by a trainee and NQ in the team on my first day which helped me to get to know them better. Later in the week I was taken for lunch by a partner and senior associate in the team which was a great way to find out more about the work that they did, what they looked for in trainees and the graduate recruitment process. Aside from the lunches out, I was made to feel that the work I completed was of assistance to the team and received positive feedback on my work.
All of the team were really approachable and I felt that I could ask questions whenever I was unsure of something. I was also given feedback on all of the work that I completed.
I was given enough work each day.
I was given the right amount of responsibility for my level of experience.
As the work that I was given was the same as would have been given to a trainee solicitor, I feel that I developed skills essential to being successful as a trainee solicitor.
The Company
Everyone was very friendly and approachable and there was a very down to earth atmosphere.
The placement was well organised. The team were prepared for my placement and had tasks ready for me to work on. They had also organised social events throughout the week.
My placement was a part of the internal applicant process as I currently work with the firm. Therefore the firm has invested a lot in my personal training and development.
I have accepted a training contract with the firm and am continuing in my current role until it begins.
The Culture
There were numerous social events throughout the week. I was taken for lunch by different members of the team including the trainee, NQ, partner and senior associate and there was a team lunch at the end of the week. The trainees also arranged an evening of drinks so I could get to know other trainees in the office. I also attended a trainee solicitor event during one of the evenings.
Pretty reasonable.
There were lots of bars and restaurants nearby to the office.
Yes, the trainees organised drinks one evening and I also attended a trainee solicitor event.
