The Role
Often I was stressed out from the amount of work to be done but at least I wasn't bored
My manager was not very good at appreciating the work I'd put in and accepted a bonus for the work I'd been doing and never thanked me for it. Other employees were very appreciative.
Yes, there is a mentor scheme if you require it.
Busy, but that's how I like it!
Lots of responsibility but it felt at times they were using you too much for the amount you were being paid.
The job was not particularly relevant to the degree course I was taking and was not the job I applied for.
The Company
The large amount of interns made it a good environment to work in.
Once again the large amount of interns & the experience HP has of dealing with Interns made it a well organised year.
There were many training courses you could undertake but these had to be done in your own work time.
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
I personally would not work for HP again but that is because I do not want to work in the IT industry
The Culture
Great atmosphere due to the large number of interns on the scheme (around 70 based in Bracknell alone).
Not as good as the North but Reading is decent enough price wise. They should increase the salary so that you are able to at least pay off some debts as well rather than simply living on the breadline.
Reading was good but you wouldn't touch Bracknell with a bargepole. Transport links made it possible to go out in London if you had the money.
Weekly football is organised and some other activities could be organised dependant on the intern social committee
