The Role
I was given excellent insight into high profile cases. The workload was engaging and provided a good feel for a legal role in practice. There were also themed social activities taking place around the office related to the olympics and placement students were highly encouraged to get involved which was brilliant.
Various colleagues from within the department and around the office were willing to go out of there way to enhance the experience and make sure our time spent there was as valuable as possible.
There was an excellent support network in place so that not just one particular supervisor was involved in providing work. I frequently had meetings and catch ups relating to the work I was doing and general discussions about the nature of corporate legal work and the firm in general.
At the time the corporate team was not particularly busy so I was in no way overwhelmed with work. However this encouraged me to use initiative and seek out opportunities to assist where I was able.
I wasn't given any tasks of significant responsibility. On occasion I drafted emails to clients, but mainly I was analysing investment agreements and completing admin level tasks.
I was given invaluable insight into a legal role in practice. This increased my ambition to work within the profession and confidence that I could succeed.
The Company
An excellent working culture, unstuffy and friendly.
Generally everything was well organised. There was no particular schedule regarding day-to-day activities, except for a exit interview and presentation on the last day.
Of particular value was the overall feedback I received of my performance during the week which included constructive ways of developing my legal skills. Feedback on work throughout the week was also given.

Company Parties/Events
The Culture
Excellent social network which involved all current trainees and placement students. We genuinely got on very well and had lunch together and went for drinks after work.
Compared to other places in the UK Nottingham is fairly cheap.
A good mix of venues to cater for all tastes.
Placement students and trainees went out for dinner and drinks which was paid for by the firm and also invited to a bar crawl.
