The Role
I performed the same operational job on a daily basis.
I did not feel my skills were valued or recognised.
Management was very nice and accommodating but had little substantial power to deal with my position.
I had a lot of spare time, as did the other members of my team. I was very often bored.
Little to none
I developed very few skills as the work I was doing was very easy.
The Company
My team were very friendly and chatty.
There was no external oversight. The gap-year placement was viewed the same as the Initial Entrant Scheme, which I do not think was appropriate. Other firms take in the Gap Year students as though they were graduates. There was no provision for experiencing other parts of the Bank and the scheme was not well organised.
I was able to go on some courses.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Healthcare/Dental
I hope the graduate program would be exponentially more interesting, challenging and fulfilling than the Gap Year program.
The Culture
I made some very good friends within the scheme.
Expensive.
