    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • My placement was everything I could have hoped for - great team, great culture, great support, great responsibility, great exposure to senior members of the firm and great responsibility from day one.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Fantastic group of people - spent hours over the course of my placement sitting explaining anything I didn't understand even if it meant they would have to be at work for an extra hour at the end of the day.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was assigned a line manager who constantly supported and guided me through the work that I was asked to perform. Also worked closely with a number of analysts who were more than happy to help and explain anything I was having trouble with.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • As a Spring Intern I wasn't working until midnight but I did stay until roughly half past 9 on a few occasions because I was helping an analyst with a live deal.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Far more than I had imagined - I wasn't 'running the show' as this is impossible as a spring intern but I had to create financial models for use in company profiles.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The learning curve was incredibly steep all week and the amount I learnt in a week was tremendous and will be useful for a number of careers should I choose them.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone was incredibly hard working but they also found time to escape for a coffee break for 10 minutes or to go and grab a frozen yoghurt and have a chat about their experiences.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • From day one the organisation was spot on. I even had a meeting organised for myself and the Head of Banking for the EMEA region - amazing!

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • On day one we were given a team-building exercise and given advice on how to make the most of our placements. We then had a talk from a Managing Director during the week who gave us more invaluable advice and a further meeting with the regional Head of Banking for the EMEA region. Overall I gained a lot from the week.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Have been fast-tracked for the summer internship process.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • As mentioned, the team was more than happy to take a quick break when possible to socialise/talk. Also when working late and ordering dinner people often sat and socialised while they ate before getting back to work.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London is obviously expensive - can't deny that. There are ways of finding good deals and discounts though.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Can't get much more nightlife than there already is - so many different options for every kind of person.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • It wasn't spoken about too much during the week but from speaking to a trader I gather that there are opportunities to get involved in sports teams, charity fundraising events and more
