The Role
I met so many great people who I still keep in contact with. Gaining work experience from the year helped me in deciding which career path I want to follow.
The teams that I worked with during the year were very friendly and I felt that any contribution I had (even if they were small) were valued and considered.
It varied depending on the client and period during the year. When I was unassigned, I had Web based learning to keep me busy or there was always seniors looking for help with their work in the office.
I was given a lot of responsibility, more than I expected they would give interns. However, I felt I was very well supported by my managers and they knew exactly what I could and couldn't handle.
My placement year was spent doing auditing, and one of my unit in final year is audit. Therefore the skills and knowledge and I developed during the year is helping me out a lot in my degree.
The Company
There was not a face in the department who I didn't know the name of. Everyone was very friendly and always saying hi to each other, even the partners were not secluded in the corner, the made sure they were involved and friendly.
Very organised, I knew who to talk to if I needed help and the placement officer was always there to talk to if anyone had a problem with their placement. The activities at the beginning were well organised and helped people get to know each other better.
They invested a lot in our training and development. From the very start we went to college to study and sat some of our first year ICAS exams. We were sent away for an induction week on audit to prepare us for what work we would be performing throughout the year, we had departmental training which helped us develope skills specifically for our department. And there were also opportunities for us to sign up to other trainings if we wanted, such as excel skills development classes.

I received a graduate position with the firm. The graduate scheme is very appealing as you can progress in the company in the future in your line of work or move into another division if wanted.
The Culture
Everyone in our placement year knew each other and got along really well. Outside of socials organised for us by the company, we would also organised our own and would get the regional people involved.
Because we were in London, it is always going to cost a fair bit more.
There are bars along the river near the office where you can go and have some drinks after work. Or across the river in the City there are always buzzing bars and clubs.
The company offered a lot of activities you can join from sports teams to networking groups.
