The Role
Really enjoyed everything that was given to me. Very few menial tasks, e.g. photocopying
LOVED everyone. I felt completely taken into the team, everyone made me feel really welcome. They are one of the main reasons I have accepted my job offer.
Given quite a lot of support. Feedback was always really useful.
I was nearly always busy. There were a few days in the middle with not very much on, but we had books to read to learn about topics that could be examined in the professional qualifications, so I was always learning. I had to stay until 6 or 7pm a few days just to get things done. Apart from these few occasions the work balance was very good.
I was given a lot of responsibility during my time. I went to quite a few client meetings, and I was allowed to talk and get involved, although I couldn't provide a huge amount of detail for some clients. Our projects were great, and I felt a lot of the work I did was really useful to the team and clients.
Lots of skills were improved. Basic excel skills got much better. Along with other life skills such as team work, professionalism and understanding the work environment.
The Company
We had one or two social events during my internship. Often people brought in sweets/chocolates/cake for people to share during the day. The boys had a football team that played in a local league. Lots of jokes and banter. It was a great environment to work in.
Very well organised. I turned up and had a calendar of events lined up for me for the first couple of weeks, and then once I got into the job I was able to organise my own time and commitments.
They invested a lot of time in my training and development. I had a buddy which helped with day to day problems, and a mentor which I had several meetings with throughout my internship to talk about how I was finding my time in general and talk about job prospects. I also managed to spend a lot of time with the partner, and went to a few meetings with him, which was great contact time and when I worked with him in the office he spent a lot of time teaching me rather than just telling me. At the time, I found it a little frustrating when there were deadlines to reach, but I still remember what he taught me now so obviously he knew that was the best way to do things! The pre-internship training and end of internship party must have also been a big investment for the company and they were both really enjoyable events.

Offered me a job, didn't even blink before accepting. Loved my time there, I can't wait to get started.
The Culture
As mentioned before, several socials and also lots of good fun between everyone in the office.
I lived at home. Socialising was fine, sometimes even on the company!
Pretty standard night-life. I didn't really go out much during my time, but again, was living at home so I know what it is like anyway and its pretty normal.
Lots of stuff to get involved with, either with EY but outside work hours or other clubs/sports/choirs/theatre etc.
