The Role
I found the job very rewarding, as I was able to work on many well known companies during the year. I was also able to get a real insight into what life as an auditor is like.
I very much felt like part of all of the teams that I worked in, and I was treated as if I was a first year associate, rather than an intern.
All of my seniors were always happy to answer my questions, and would always ensure that I was happy with the work that I had to do. They were also very knowledgeable, and would often offer tips on how best to approach tasks.
The jobs always involve sticking to tight deadlines, therefore there is often a lot of pressure to get the job done efficiently, and this would often mean that I would have to work quite long hours. There were however a few times when I was unassigned, and this gave me a chance to do web based learning activities, and to read about the audit procedures that are used in the firm.
I was given the same responsibilities as first year associates. Towards the end of the year I felt that seniors appreciated that I had learnt quite a lot during my placement year, and would therefore allow me to do harder work.
Learning about how audit is in practice will no doubt be of use to me, as I have an auditing module in my final year of university. I am also keen to take the ACA, and I am sure that my experiences will help to to answer questions in these exams.
The Company
The atmosphere was very friendly, and there would often be socials for our department. The buddy system also makes placement students feel welcome.
The placement year was very well organised, especially the induction week at the start of our placement, which helped everyone to settle in. The placement officer was always happy to answer any questions.
Placement students took several training courses during the year and everyone was assigned a counsellor who would help with the setting of targets, and monitor how we were doing.

I am very pleased to have received a graduate job offer, and I feel that the firm offers employees many opportunities, such as secondments in other countries/ service lines.
The Culture
There were several socials during the year just for the placement students.
The prices of socialising in London were high, but the firm held many social events during the year.
London caters to all tastes, and the office is close to many bars and pubs.
There were many networks and sports teams to join and we were also given the opportunity to join university recruitment teams.
