The Role
I enjoyed this placement because it gave me lots to do and helped me develop many different skills throughout my time at BAE.
I felt like a valued member of the team as I took part in discussions and team meetings where I was asked my opinion on issues and the team always listened to my ideas.
I was given lots of support during my placement, if I ever needed any help there was always someone willing to help and offer advice on what I was doing.
At the start of the placement there wasnt too much work to do but as time progressed and work became more available within the department. There was lots of work for me to do which kept me busy for the duration of my placement.
During my placement I was given a fair amount of responsibility.
The work that I have completed during my placement, has given me the chance to experience how business actually works, the work I have done may not relate directly to my degree but the skills involved, for example learning to use new computer programmes, are similar to the skills I have gained and continue to improve whilst at university. These skills will be very valuable in the future.
The Company
Everyone was very friendly and always happy to help if you had any issues.
Although the process of getting security clearance at the begining didnt run too smoothly the overall placement was well organised.
I am applying for the Graduate Scheme now.
The Culture
There were a few socials organised over my time at BAE, the current Graduates also invited us on there socials.
As I was living with my parents the cost of living was very low, but generally Barrow is fairly reasonable in comparison with other places.
The nightlife within Barrow is not all that good (with the exception of a few nice pubs), but if you are willing to venture out of the town a little there are some nice places to visit.
The Gradutes offered us the opportunities to go and join them on the events they had organised, also the company advertised companywide events in the weekly bulletings.
