The Role
I enjoyed the role very much, the working environment was superb and it allowed me to grow and learn so much about the corporate envirionment.
I was never treated as an intern but as a full member of the team. Without my role, multiple marketing activities across Europe wouldn't have executed. I became an expert in my role and was in contact with colleagues from around the world seeking my advice.
I met with my management on a weekly basis to review my work as well as any other queries i may have had. They were always encouring my develop and fully supportive of anything i wanted to do.
The level of work varied throughout the year, however there was never a point when i had nothing to do. There were of course months when i was very busy and others when i had less to do.
I was given a great deal of responsibility, in one area of my role i maintained the management of a budget which totalled close to $2m. I also facilitated the management of a loyalty programme used across the European markets and ultimately held the responisibility for the execution of all campaigns. Much of this work was done soley my myself, however i did have of course the guidance of my management.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was great, there was a good mix of experience and youth as well there being a great cross section of nationalities. I always felt comfortable and welcome in the office, it was a lovely place to work.
On the Amex side of things the placement scheme was well managed by both the HR department and my individual management.
The company was always willing to get me involved in activities that would enhance my development such as presenting to key clients, travel abroad and sending me on external training programmes.

The prospects at American Express are very good however i don't think that the company is positioned in a sector that i want to be in.
The Culture
There aren't as many placement students within Amex as there are at other companies however i did enjoy many social activities with those that were there.
I can't comment on living cost as i lived rent free however in terms of socialising this was expensive but this is to be expected in London.
There's no better place to be for Nightlife than London!
There were few activities externally however i did get involved in the department softball team which played every other week
