The Role
The work I was given was like no other module/course I had taken before, therefore all of it was new and hard to crasp at the start but very interesting once I knew how to use the software and the skills needed.
Ernst & Young provided such a welcoming environment, it meant the team were able to complete the work in a friendly yet professional way.
I was allocated a 'buddy' and a 'counsellor' who were both extremely helpful over my internship and in terms of shaping my career
Ernst & Young are based on client work and therefore some days I was extrememly busy working on around 3 different clients but other days I was just completing due diligence.
I was given tasks to help with the admin associated with Tax one day but the next helping senior partners in meetings/helping to choose clients - therefore a range of responsibilities
Whilst the skills won't help me finish my degree the skills I learnt in the workplace will follow me throughout my career in terms of office etiquette/work ethic/time management
The Company
The office was very friendly and I did my internship during the Olympics so amongst the work was fun activities too.
Ernst & Young are very professional in their Graduate Recruitment and the whole process was well thought through, with guidance/events and mechanside all at hand.
The role of counsellor particularly shows the company value that you have a rewarding time whilst working for them
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
I was offered a job at the end of my internship in the London office
The Culture
The atmosphere was very social, particularly in the summer
I lived at home! Reading isn't too expensive though
Reading is quite good, not particularly varied, depends on the group you go out with.
There wasn't too much going on in the summer months in the office as many took holidays at different times. They had just had a ball the week before I started though
