The Role
The internship was challenging, but with good guidance from both the training week and colleagues throughout the internship.
Felt valued by members of my team. The overall vibe of the team was slightly reserved, however, and thus my experience was somewhat in line with this.
Colleagues were extremely helpful throughout the internship, making time to explain thoroughly any new tasks, or concepts relating to the work I was engaged in. Support was given by my manager and mid-internship review sessions.
The level of work was as expected for an investment banking internship, however workflow was variable depending on the projects the team was involved in, meaning some periods were very busy.
Good level of responsibility given. Eased into the internship with guidance from full time analysts, but responsibility increased as the internship progressed. Good level of responsibility without feeling overburdened when first starting.
Training and work helped developed skills and knowledge which is useful for degree studies and all future involvement in finance.
The Company
Despite colleagues being friendly and becoming on interaction, the atmosphere in the office was very focussed and intense.
HR and in team managers organised the internship perfectly. No issues at all over the 9 week.s
Firm invested in very helpful training on the first week of the internship, and members of the team were willing to take time to help improve my understanding of the job and industry.

Returning in 2013 to start a job full time.
The Culture
There was social interaction on weekends among the interns, focussed around where many of the interns were living.
As expected for the City of London, moderately expensive.
Number of good pubs and bars, but few nightclubs, and mainly focussed on older workers than student aged interns.
Opportunities predominantly had to be sought after on an individual basis.
