The Role
I found it to be great day in terms of being able to learn more about the organisation as well as the sector of accountancy in general.
Everyone else on the day was very easy to get along with - made the day very enjoyable actually!
I valued the fact that people had taken time out of their schedules to be able to organise this day for us, and they were generally very attentive to all questions
The schedule was quite full - this was understandable given the short time available to us on the day.
Not a lot - however the group project that we completed required a leader. This was usually nominated within each group.
It was a good chance to brush up on your soft-skills - i.e. interpersonal and presentation skills - in that respect it was useful for personal development.
The Company
From what I saw on the day, it appeared to be a nice environment to work in - not too quiet, people did not seem to be overly exerting themselves.
HR did a good job on this front as it was very clearly laid out in timetables that were adhered to.
The point of the day was to learn and develop your understanding for the area in which they operated.
Subsidised Canteen
Not really applicable as there were no fast-track schemes from the insight day itself.
The Culture
Again, this was not really relevant however I've added quite a few people I've met on the day on Facebook.
I study in London so this was not a huge problem (getting to and fro), E and Y do a good job of covering your travel costs though if you have to travel down from somewhere far.
In my opinion the Central London area is a lot more lively than where the E and Y office was based.
I was told that E and Y offer lots of this type of activity to their employees, however we did not get a chance to experience this on the day.
