The Role
I found it to be very challenging as a result of the long hours I had to put in, however it provided an insight into the industry like no other
I got along fairly well with the other interns - it was clear that some weren't interested in making friends, but were there to impress the UBS staff!
My supervisor kept a close watch on what I was involved in and I reported any problems I had to him as well.
During the Olympic period, there was less activity however it was primarily very strenuous work for the rest of the internship.
It actually felt that I was a graduate at UBS as I was involved in real deals. I prepared presentation notes for a client meeting amongst other things.
I would say that the most important attribute that I have improved is time-management. It was essential to not bend any of the deadlines.
The Company
I have been inside other banks and for me it didn't have that excitement to it. Perhaps it was because of the summer weather.
Overall, it felt well put together and everyone I spoke to felt the same way - you got what you put in.
I would say more could have been done in terms of individualized feedback. Yet as an internship, I felt that I had definitely learnt along during the process
Company Parties/Events
I know that only a few offers were handed out. Personally, I am considering other industries instead.
The Culture
Suprisingly good, everyone wanted to enjoy themselves especially at the weekends when there would be more time.
I commuted every morning from Zone 3 so this was not too bad.
Not bad actually, Liverpool St. is only a short walk away from Shoreditch so a lot of us went there after work.
It was lacking in this department - I had friends who were able to take part on a charity day however this was unfortunately not available
