    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Really good, a nice first taste into the banking world. Really relaxed insight program, yet managed to learn alot and make so many contacts -- it was too short to find anything boring too!

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Many of the employees were there talking to you, because they had to. You could tell that they didn't care, they just wanted to get back to their job and their constantly bleeping blackberries. However, HR were really friendly and made sure we were all settled

    1/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • HR had planned everything out, and then when we had case studies/projects to do, the team leader was really helpful and would explain all the different considerations we had to make before making a suggestion

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There was always something planned for us - presentation/case study/interview. However, we were never stressed and had lots of breaks during the day.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • None at all. Your an insight trainee so its a case of you working in teams on a historic event project to see the work that goes into such tasks, or you are at questioning session or presentations, so you aren't given any responsibility at all

    1/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Really well. The presentations and questioning sessions are so useful -- you get to learn about the specifics of each project, within each department and get to see all the different cogs that go into a big corporate bank. Also assessment centre skills are greatly improved

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There were lots of breaks and social events planned for us throughout the scheme, which meant we got to know everyone really well. Every in the corridor would stop for a chat with the graduates that were looking after us too, talking about football/nights out -- so everyone is work focussed but there is definitely some fun to be had

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Really well. They have ran this scheme for several years and had everything planned out, the hole business was expecting us too so everything went smoothly, despite there being such a large number of us

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Loads!! The hole week was planned into developing us, giving us an insight into banking, teaching us about all the different roles along with giving us application advice, CV advice and interview practise!

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Most of us got internship offers for next year with them -- however some people weren't too happy with their department

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yeah, we got to know each other really well through the scheme. SC had planned loads of ice breaker type exercises in the first week and you are all put up together in a hotel too, along with social events in the evening so you get to know each other really well!!

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The hole time everything is on expenses -- hotel, breakfast, lunch, dinner!! So your wages just get put into having fun at the weekend, so London turns out pretty cheap!

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There are so many bars and clubs in London -- you can find everything for each different genre of music!

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Evening entertainment was planned every evening with all the interns - sight seeing, threatre etc.. that you spend your evenings out with work, but you aren't in suits and its all really casual

    5/5
