    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my placement with the company because I was learning and earning at the same time. I believe the colleagues and tasks were of importance and challenging made the placement more enjoyable.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was placed in a major role within the organisation, with weekly reviews where I gained recognition from my manager. Working as a member of the department I felt encouraged to do more and the work that was completed was ackowledged.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I had a weekly 1:1 review and a 3 month appraisal system. At each of these I received feedback with good attributes listed along with room for improvement. My manager and team supported me in my development throughout the placement very well.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was busy throughout the majority of my placement, with room for a breather from time to time.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a massive responsibility within the company which put me in charge of training delivery of a vital department, which the business was demanding. This enabled me to work as an individual and as part of a team through leading meetings and presentations.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I believe that my confidence, presentation, organisational, stress management and team building skills developed will assist me in my final year at Oxford Brookes University and help me finding work thereafter.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere in the office was upbeat, we were always interacting with one another having a laugh while completing tasks to deadlines.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement was organised, However, I was moved from one placement to another which made me feel unsettled

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I had a lot of support mechanisms which reduced the amount of training and investments that were made in me. I did receive some basic training in Excel and the in built systems BMW currently use. Furthermore, the first month of me joining the company I was very supportive and gradually allowed me to learn along the way.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I have heard that I made a very good impact in the company, along with the company requiring students with ambition and a graduate placement and apprenticeship schemes the future looks promising.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The social scene was good; we had an event’s organiser which presented us with leaving parties, birthday parties and festive evenings out.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of living in the Oxford area is reasonable, I lived at home which made it cheaper than most. The average student said that some aspects of living was quite expensive but generally worth it.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The night life I heard was good; again living in Oxford I was aware of clubs, but being a Muslim girl didn't really participate with these activities.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes, myself and some of the girls from the office went out on a regular basis to local shopping centres and cafe's to relax and do some retail therapy.
