The Role
My placement was thoroughly enjoyable.
There was an excellent level of respect shown between employees of National Grid. The work carried out during this placement was valuable to National Grid and several National Grid employees expressed individually that they were egger to see the project completed.
I always felt that there was support available from management. At the same time, I was given enough freedom to make my own decisions and improve problem-solving skills.
There was approximately the correct quantity work to be completed, ensuring a sense of achievement but not to feel constantly pressured.
The work carried out during the placement was important. There was always support and advise available if needed.
Many of the skills that I have developed during this placement will most definitely assist me in completing my degree and my future career.
The Company
There was generally a very good atmosphere in the office at National Grid. The company has lots of networking events and clubs for employees to enjoy.
The placement was organised very well. Although the work placement was short, the sponsoring company had added just enough structure to the placement, to allow the maximum achievement and exposure of the company, during the placement.
All employees and managers were willing to invest their time with the placement students.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
National Grid would be a very appealing as a company to work for future employment.
The Culture
There were ten placement students all living in a house together and multiple sports and social activities organised by the sponsoring company and employees.
Reasonable.
The nightlife was not as good as a large city but it was still ok, with easy access to large surrounding cities.
Living in Leamington Spa was good. There are endless activities to get involved in outside of work. Leamington Spa is based around a large park, in which carnivals, plays and fairs take place during the summer.
