The Role
This was a fantastic internship that I would highly recommend to anyone interested in consulting! We had one week of training in the office and then we were put straight onto client sute for the next 9 weeks - so we got brilliant exposure and real taster for what life is like as a consultant.
Everyone was so welcoming and friendly and you felt part of a team immediately! There were a lot of social events too which really helped!
We had a lot of support. Formally we had a Buddy, a Coach and a Line Manager, but there was such a fantastic team atmosphere that I felt I could go to anyone to ask any questions/queries.
This did vary, as some days I was extremely busy and would have to work through lunch or stay a bit later than usual. Others were a bit slow sometimes. However, I think this was the nature of the time of year. This internship was during the summer and this is obviously when people were on holiday - so occassionally there was less work to do. However, overall there wasn't a huge imbalance. I rarely had to ask for more things to do, and when I did, I was always given something worthwhile and useful to do. None of that photocopying/making tea and coffee malarky!
I felt like I was given a lot of responsibility, especially after having only one week of training and then being put straight onto client site. However, I have no regrets and I was extremely lucky to be given that experience and responsibility. As previously mentioned, I had a great support network around me, so if I wasn't sure of anything or didn't know what to do, I always knew that there was someone I could go to! My role was extremely client facing, which was absolutely fantastic exposure!
The skills I developed were very useful for the project I was on and for being a consultant, which will definitely be useful throughout life!
The Company
I did not spend very much time in the Capco offices itself as I was on client site for most of the time. However, whenever I did go the atmosphere was always very friendly, The offices were very unique with different rooms being named after different sweets, which made it quite quirky!
Overall, it was very well organised. However, this was the first year they had ran an internship scheme so there were a couple things that were slightly disorganised, but these would obviously be sorted out for future years. Overall, I thought it was very well organised!
Working for Capco, and even during the application process, you felt like a person rather than just a number. The fact the firm is still on the smaller side really does mke you feel valued. I felt like I was treated as an Associate rather than just an intern.

After doing the internship you were not offered a job straight away. You had to attend two more rounds of interviews.
The Culture
There was an amazing social scene at Capco. We went our for team dinners and team drinks, and then we also had project wide socials when we exceeded targets which were a lot of fun! Then were also Capco wide socials which gave you the opportunity to meet people from other projects and hear what they have been doing. There is also a great Associate Community, which is very active! I thought the social side of things were fantastic and always really well organised!
Living in London was obviously quite expensive. I was paying £200/week for a studio room in Barbican, which was walking distance to work and very central generally. This it meant I spent barely anything on transport which was great. There were lots of restaurants/bars/clubs around so there was always somewhere to go!
I really enjoyed the nightlife and found a good range of clubs and bars available!
There were lots of different opportunities available for example yoga, basketball and lots of different sports! During our training week they also took us Go-Karting, which was great fun! As well as a Sports Day in Hyde Park one Friday afternoon!
